The End of Year

After nine years in Journalism

Hello December, it is already the end of the year.

This past year has been a major change for me, and the highlight is my new job. Yes, I finally move on from my previous company after working there for nine years. It was not an easy decision but I knew if I want to have a better life I have to move on.

#WORKINGDIARIES2018

Honestly, after a long period working there, I have found my comfort zone. I had adapted to my colleagues, the company’s culture, and the deadline. It has been a rough first year in 2009 but I managed to overcome it.

Working as a journalist has never crossed my mind before. I was actually a pessimist that I barely survive in journalism because I felt like I don’t have the guts and enough confidence to do those interviews and live reports. But voila! I enjoyed every minute of it. Being a journalist has brought me many experiences as I’ve mentioned in my previous post; Working as a Journo.

I love the opportunities to meet many people with different backgrounds and travel through Indonesia and abroad. One of the best things about working in a media company is time flexibility. Yes, I work during the holiday season and sometimes on the weekend, but I can replace my day off anytime and I don’t need to work during office hours.

New Job, New Challenges

Last September, I began to work in an infrastructure company. It is indeed a major change; from working hours, how to dress up, how to interact with colleagues, and the company’s culture. It was not a big shock, but I still need time to adapt. Well, spending nine hours in front of a computer screen often is not so fun.

So to boost my mood, next year I have plans to do other activities. I will continue my Spanish class with my fellow Focalae alumni, starting to join a dance class to live a healthy life and plan a vacation.

#TRAVELINGDIARIES2018

I remember in my previous new year’s post I wrote that I need to go traveling at least twice a year. So in 2018, I’ve visiting Lahat a small town in South Sumatera Province. I went there with my colleagues to spend New Year’s there. We had to interview the Mayor.

Then in February, I went to Sebatik Island, a small city located on the border between Indonesia and Malaysia. It was not an easy ride because I need to take an airplane to Tarakan City in Kalimantan and continue the journey by speed boat. I went there for work but you know I always enjoy traveling either for work or pleasure.

Wat Pho Temple, Bangkok Thailand

Then just a week after returning to Jakarta, I went to Thailand for six days. I went there with my aunt and her friends. We met in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport in the morning, I flew from Jakarta while my aunt was from Bali. We stayed four days in Bangkok and two days in Pattaya

Traveling to Thailand is enjoyable. Bangkok has many good shopping centers with affordable prices, a variety of food, and beautiful beaches. I am looking forward to coming back and visiting Phuket or Phi Phi Island. Last July I was planning to go to Bali to celebrate my birthday with some friends but it got canceled. Maybe next year I can go.

Well, that’s all I can think about 2018, It is a short traveling diary this year but I’ll hope I can redeem it in 2019.

#LOVEDIARIES

Life of 20’s something has officially ended and people were busy asking me about my life partner. It’s something very insulting and annoying. Love is something that only you can feel, and it’s your right to share it or not. And for me, love is something private.

I'm ready to move forward and hope for a great year in 2019. Adiós!

You deserve a good life, a good sleep, and a good man. (r.h. Sin)
