Another Day in Singapore

Another vacation in Singapore! Yup last Friday I went to Singapore with my mother for four days. We had a wedding invitation from her close co-worker, her daughter was getting married with Singaporean man. So my mom thought it was a good opportunity for us to have some quality time together and take some time to enjoying day off there.

I never seem to get tired to go Singapore, why? First the country is organized. Ranging from pedestrians, users of private vehicles or public transport users obey all the rules. We could walk, cross the street, or riding the vehicle safely and comfortably. Second, clean air  and free of pollution. Third, because the multi-cultural background, all people from different countries can be easily found in the streets or public transport. It’s just really refreshing after dealing with such a bad traffic everyday and tons of works.

Christmas Tree at Ion
It's December and Christmas will come in just couple weeks, and it was quite festive Christmas design all the way in Orchard road. It filled with lights and decorations and a huge Christmas tree in front of Ion shopping centre. It was very tempting to take some pictures there.

So the first day we arrived it was quite late, so we're just looking some dinner and enjoying the night. In Saturday morning I woke up pretty late, and then decided just walking around Orchard because my mom had a lunch appointment with her friend. He took us to some Japanese restaurant in Far East Square an old building that had been reconstruct.

After lunch we had some rest for a while before getting ready to the Wedding. It was quite far at the Shangrila Hotel Sentosa Island. You know my mom friend said we would get stuck in traffic on the way to the hotel because it was Saturday night and there Zookout events also held there. But I think there is no such a bad traffic worse than Jakarta traffic and it proved.

So normally from our place to Sentosa island only takes around 20 minutes but due the traffic jam we arrived there for about 45 minutes. Well it's pretty late but nothing compares with traffic in my beloved city Jakarta. If in Jakarta probably it'll take almost two hours or more if it's raining. Hahaha..

Well anyway it was my first time attending an international wedding, I mean it's so much different with Indonesian wedding that I had attend before. No standing party and the guests is very limited, only close friends and family, and whole night we're just sitting, listening the band music, eating, and talking to other member in the same table. It's a good thing though so I don't have to hurt my feet with my 7 cm heels.

Gardens By The Bay

Singapore Flyer

It was Sunday Morning on the next day and I was planning to go sightseeing. My first pit stop was Gardens by the Bay the newest icon in Singapore. This is a green area covering 101 acres of stunning gardens with a space that provides unique inventions every corner. This park is inhabited quarter million rare plants, the seed is the location of the steel giant trees towering to the height of 50 meters into the sky. It was a very beautiful park. I really can't help myself to take pictures as much as I can. So cheesseeee!

Concrete Jungle @ Marina Bay Sand

Garden by the Bay located near by the Marina Bay Sands, one of the biggest shopping mall I’ve ever been. The mall also located in front of the Singapore River and lots of skyscrapers in the left side. So I think It’s really a whole package of a great view combine. I always love taking pictures in here.

After being tired of sightseeing we went back to Orchard to have some shopping before going to Robertson Quay to meet my mom friend in her apartment for dinner. Robertson quay is perfect place for an intimate dinner or evening to chill out with friends. There is a lot of restaurant or a bar and peoples are really enjoying their time. Last Saturday lots of people hanging around watching football, and they were so loud when Manchester United scores a goal against their derby rival Manchester City. I guess Manchester is a red, don’t you think?

Season's Greeting from Orchard
Okay, it was day fourth and all good things must come to an end. It was time for me to go home. So I decided to go shopping for the last time around Orchard, then headed to Little India for another sightseeing and lunch at some Indian restaurant. You know that was my second time eating in Indian restaurant, and I personally think the bread taste good but other food it taste almost the same, probably because Indian food using the same ingredients. Honestly I still think Indonesian foods are the best, missing home already.

Time is up and it’s time for me to pack my bag and ready to go to the airport. Since we don’t have MRT in Indonesia I personally love to travel around city using MRT, it’s fast and it’s cheaper than taxi. It’s only takes about 40 minutes to the airport. And definitely noooo traffic jam. Perfect!
