My Holiday Getaway

The holiday is back! Yes, I was really excited to take my day off from work for 8 days. After such a tiring long late night work I finally had a chance to take a break and enjoy my time traveling. As much as I want to go to a place that I've never been going to but in the end, I chose to spend my time in Singapore.

Yes, I know it's a common place to go and all I can see is a concrete jungle. But, I love the city for its neat, orderly, and clean vibe. Public transportation is a wow compare to Jakarta and there is a big space for pedestrians. That is a great commodity for me as a Jakartan who has never experienced that in this beloved city.

So I began my vacation adventure to Singapore by taking a flight on Monday mid-day. I went there with my traveling buddy Tasha from my last trip to Korea last year. After arriving at Changi Airport we decided to take an MRT to the apartment where we were going to stay. We just realized that the apartment was far from the airport, It's exactly in the opposite direction.

One hour later we arrived at Clementi station and decided to take lunch in the mall. Yes, we are starving. After pulling our suitcase here and there, I felt like my body need more energy. After a quick lunch, we took a cab to Bukit Batok and finally found the apartment. Thank God!

On the next day, we took a bus to Harbour Front to go to Sentosa Island. There is a new attraction, Madame Tussaud. Although I don't go inside the museum I still can take a picture with Bruce Willis. Yippy ki yay mother ****.

Marina Bay View

Then we decided to go sightseeing to Marinna Bay and took a Singapore flyer that I've been wanting to ride on since the beginning of this trip. But too bad we took the wrong station and has to walk all way down to Marina Bay, and while we walked through the helix bridge suddenly raindrops and we hurried to take shelter. We sat down for about 30 minutes below the bridge, and for the first time, I saw a homeless guy in Singapore. Yes, a homeless guy was sleeping under the bridge. It's a rare view in Singapore I think.

We were just too tired to continue going to Singapore Flyer so we decided to come back the next day, and we went to Merlion statue to have a coffee break. Ahh..it felt so good to take a sip of latte and sit so comfortably after a long hour walk. It's heaven.

The sun slowly goes down, and we decided to have dinner on Orchard Road. We went to the food court in Takashimaya and then buy some groceries in the supermarket for breakfast tomorrow. It's 9 pm already we took a bus to a station behind Somerset and then headed back to the apartment.

On our third day, we took a bus and an MRT to reach the Singapore flyer. Finally, I can take a ride on this giant spinning wheel of Singapore. The capsule was huge it can take about 20 people inside, but we ride it with just four people including us.

I'm at 165 High

As the capsule turn slowly I was busy taking videos and pictures. I can see this city from 165 high with a grand view. It was a little bit scary when I look down, oh my god it was so high. I can't help to look down, so I just focus on looking at the entire view without looking down. The ride took about 20 minutes long.

Then we continued our journey to Little India to feel the Indian vibrant, and we walked to Bencoolen before taking a bus to Orchard. We might have no time to buy things for friends and family back home tomorrow, so we went shopping for chocolates at Paragon and Ion. Then we took a bus to Holland Village to meet my best friend's sister. She's living and working there.

Oh, dear. I can't feel my legs and my arms anymore, because of the long hour walk carrying some heavy chocolates. So it was relieved to finally arrive in Holland Village and took dinner with Caca.

It's Thursday and it is our last day, oh no time was passing by so fast. I don't want my vacation over! I want more time, but I can't so I packed my bag and got ready. But it still early because our flight is at 7 pm, so we decided to take a stroll to Jurong, it was near our apartment so we have plenty of time before going back to the airport.

It took 1,5 hours for us to get to the airport, and the terminal was soo far. It took 15 minutes more walking from immigration to the gate. Well, the journey has to end, and I had a really great time here. Riding Singapore flyer (check), taking some coffee in Merlion (check), riding public transportation (check), okay all my to-do list is successful. It's to go back to reality. After all, we had joy and we had fun in Singapore.
